Ursuline Associate Community
The Ursuline Associates are Christian women and men who, within their own state in life, join the Ursuline Sisters of Louisville in prayer, mutual support, and service. Together they seek to deepen their lives of prayer and service as followers of Jesus in the spirit and tradition of Saint Angela Merici, foundress of the Ursuline Sisters.

Company of Saint Angela

Living the Christian life may be what Angela Merici was all about. She was not regarded as a woman religious during her day. She never entered a cloister or lived in a convent. She never left a ministry as her heritage although her gifts are almost always linked to education. She never even suggested that her followers do any particular ministry. But Angela Merici did speak about Christian life. And she spoke about how to live it. She gave her followers, men and women, a way of life. Angela Merici pointed out a way of following Jesus in the world, and this “way of living” serves as the foundation of the Company of Saint Angela.

The Company of Saint Angela is an association of the Christian faithful, recognized by the Archdiocese of Louisville and in familial relationship with the Ursulines of Louisville. It was established on June 20, 1994.

When the Company of Saint Angela meets on a regular basis, they reflect and share how each other lives a Christian life and the gift Angela gave – to reflect on the love of God and how God is active in our relationship with self, others and creation.

The Rule followed by its members is a contemporary adaptation of Angela Merici’s original Rule.

Women for Women

In response to an Ursuline Congregation decision to expand the concept of relationship and look for a diversity of ways to live the Charism of the Ursuline Community, the Congregation began a group called “Women for Women.”

Women for Women is a gathering of women, including Ursuline Sisters, who seek to deepen their search for God in an atmosphere of mutual respect and reverence. Time is given to presentation of inspirational material and a substantial period of silent reflection followed by sharing. The group meets at 7 pm on the first Tuesday of every month in the prayer room of Brescia Hall and welcomes new participants.
