Spring 2023

Dear Friends,

We hope you enjoy this roundup of recent stories about our Ursuline Sisters of Louisville, Associates, and our sponsored schools. We honor the memory of Sisters Maria Goretti Lovett and Mary Lee Hansen. We said goodbye to the Angela Merici Center for Spirituality, celebrated Angeline Award winners Joy Green and Carmen de la Cuba Laurel, shared in the joy of the Sacred Heart Schools’ Heritage Room timeline and the new Office of Catholic Identity and Ursuline Charism for Sacred Heart Schools. We celebrated Catholic Sister Week with multiple events that tied into the theme of “Celebrating Traditions, Changing the World.” As always, we thank you for your love and support of our mission.

Dear Friends,

Ursuline Sisters of Louisville celebrated St. Angela’s Feast Day with fun and funds. The sisters transferred $4.2 million Chapel Preservation Fund to Sacred Heart Schools. Sisters committed to the Laudato Si’ Action Platform in late October. The tornado that struck Mayfield, KY in December, 2021 was very personal for the Ursuline Sisters of Louisville’s Ginny Schaefer, Director of Angela Merici Center for Spirituality. Sisters and Sacred Heart Academy Students and Staff joined efforts to support the victims with much needed donations.

June 2020

Dear Friends,

While we were (and still are) trying to find ways of coping, giving and connecting during this time of uncertainty with the COVID-19 virus, a wave of protests calling for reform started in response to the recent killings of black Americans by police and armed citizens. We are including some of our photos and thoughts on standing peacefully for justice in this issue of In Your Midst. Black lives DO matter. We can and must DO better.
