Journey with us!

Back in 1858, three brave Ursuline Sisters left Germany and arrived in Louisville with a mission that would change everything.

Sisters Salesia Rettmeier, Pia Schoenhöfer, and Maximiliana Zwinger came here to teach the children of German immigrants at Saint Martin of Tours parish. What started as a humble beginning grew into an incredible legacy of service, education, and love.

This photographic exhibit takes you on a journey through time—watch as entrance classes grew, religious habits evolved and see 165+ years of women who answered the call to serve with contemplative love and openness to others’ needs.

The exhibit is located in the Desenzano Room of the Ursuline Motherhouse on the Ursuline Campus in Louisville.
