Congratulations to our own Sister Lorna Weiler who received the the Francesconi Award of Integrity yesterday at Sacred Heart Academy – Official Page Commissioning Day! According to Sacred Heart Academy, “She is a true Valkyrie legend who has touched the lives of tens of thousands of students over the course of five decades at SHA. This prestigious award named in honor of former Sacred Heart Schools President, Charlie Francesconi, is given annually to one employee who has contributed significantly to the school and Louisville community, enriches the lives of those around her by living the mission of Sacred Heart Schools, and demonstrates integrity through her daily interactions with others. No one is more deserving than Sister Lorna Weiler (SHA ’58, OSU ’68)!”
“Mr. Francesconi surprised Sr. Lorna with this award, but everyone in the room began to catch on as soon as he described her as someone who ‘keeps a watchful eye over all students, especially those who might be experiencing hardships. This person is faith-filled, smart, a gifted cook, quick to share advice, and loved by students and dogs. This person was teaching STEM before STEM was an acronym.’ In honor of Sr. Lorna’s beloved tradition of handing out a dozen red roses to each SHA student at graduation, Amy Olson, Ursuline Associate and Director of Mission Effectiveness, presented Sr. Lorna with her own bouquet. We are truly blessed that this remarkable woman will begin her 54th year at SHA! Congratulations to the one, the only—Sr. Lorna!” Ursuline Sisters President Jean Anne Zappa, OSU, and SHS President Dr. Karen McNay were present for the award announcement as well as the rest of the Ursuline leadership team. #UrsulinesLou #SistersRock #WeloveSHA
